A record 2,500 people applied for 166 graduate jobs at PwC’s six northern offices including Sheffield this year.
Across all student programmes, PwC received its highest ever number of applications.
More than 3000 applied for the 200 graduate, school leaver, paid internships and work placements in the firm’s northern offices.
The programme includes a female partner shadowing placement designed to attract more women to the profession.
In Yorkshire the professional services firm has increased the number of graduate places from 58 in 2013 to 79 this year across its three offices.

Nationally applications rose to a record 24,000 for 1450 places.
