An ambassador scheme to promote conferences in Sheffield has generated £13.5m in seven years.
Marketing Sheffield - part of the city council - is celebrating after a big jump in the total which stood at £7m last year.
The programme sees trained ‘ambassadors’ promoting the city as a conference destination at every opportunity.
The figure was announced by Brendan Moffett, Marketing Sheffield director at a dinner at Sheffield City Hall, supported by industry body Hospitality Sheffield and Sheffield International Venues.
He also revealed business tourism in Sheffield in 2013 was worth £117.3m, a second successive year of growth, up from £103m in 2012.
