Leisure and gaming company Rank is to open a call centre in Sheffield, creating 60 jobs.

The firm, whose brands include Grosvenor Casinos and Mecca Bingo, is moving to Navigation House on South Quay Road, Victoria Quays.

Rank Group Plc is relocating staff from London and bringing some services in-house.

Customer services director Liam Smith, who is from Sheffield, said: “Rank looked carefully at a number of locations for our new customer services hub, and Sheffield was chosen primarily for two reasons, its skilled and competitive workforce and the investment in the city’s regeneration and development.

“The new Rank Customer Service Hub, which will open in September, represents a significant investment by the group and we look forward to a long and successful relationship with Sheffield.”

Coun Leigh Bramall, deputy leader and cabinet member for business and economy, said: “Attracting a company of Rank’s size, history and ambition shows that companies want to do business in Sheffield and in this case, move their customer service operation from London to the city.

“This relocation will create 60 jobs in the heart of the city and shows Rank, and a growing number of other major blue chip companies, share in our vision for Sheffield.”

Edward Highfield, director of Creative Sheffield, added: “Our inward investment team has been working hard to secure this move and will also support Rank as it begins to recruit to its new offices.

“It’s great to see that the firm recognises the opportunity Sheffield presents to fast-growing businesses.

“Creative Sheffield will continue to work to create a vibrant, successful economy for Sheffield and build on this success, and talks with a number of other major companies are progressing well.”
