Arden Winch prides itself in providing “top to toe” safety, but that only accounts for about 30 per cent of the company’s business.

Janitorial supplies and the clothing and embroidery side each account for a further 30 per cent.

That leaves 10 per cent made up of safety supplies, including materials for containing spills, warning signs, first aid equipment, fire extinguishers, tools – and miscellaneous items that customers ring up wanting and that Arden Winch sources, even if they aren’t something the company would ever consider stocking.

Most is sold direct or delivered using the company’s own transport from one of its three centres – in Sheffield, Nottingham and Featherstone.

Customers include schools, and universities, the police, fire and probation services and councils as well as the private sector, where clients include stately homes as well as some of the steelworks the company has been serving for much of its history.
