From moving offices in the back of a car boot to 1,000 employees – Plusnet is celebrating the milestone headcount after 17 years.
The phone and broadband provider is currently the third fastest growing internet service provider in the UK, with head offices in Sheffield and a second site in Leeds.
On opening the Leeds office in 2013, the company confirmed they would create at least 250 extra jobs over the next three years.
Celebrating the news, Andy Baker, Plusnet CEO, said: “We are proud that as a small, high-growth company, we are able to provide varied and exciting job opportunities for the regional market.
“It is the people of Plusnet who remain our biggest asset and the key to our success and as an ambitious company in one of the fastest moving industries, we expect our workforce to grow from strength to strength.”
Plusnet prides itself on its internal development programmes and opens its graduate scheme to existing staff. In addition, the firm has recently created 31 apprenticeship roles in the customer service division and plans to offer a further 30 apprenticeship places in the coming year.
Meanwhile, Plusnet’s Got Talent develops staff who have been in the business for three years and who have shown the potential to be the management of tomorrow.
Internal activities are planned across both sites in celebration of this milestone. A bespoke piece of artwork, for each member of staff to sign, is being made and will be put on permanent display at Plusnet offices.
The company, based in The Balance building on Trippet Lane in Sheffield city centre, was founded in 1997. It was recommended by Which? for the sixth consecutive time in March 2014.
