Companies from the worlds of construction, hi-tech engineering and transport head the rankings of Doncaster’s most profitable companies.

Polypipe lays claim to being one of Europe’s largest and most innovative manufacturers of plastic pipe systems for residential, commercial and infrastructure sectors.

Recent successes have included supplying ground drainage systems and consultancy services to the developers of luxury beach villas on a secluded island in Abu Dhabi.

The company supplied a million metres of pipe and more than two million fittings for the piping systems used in every building on the 2012 Olympic Games Olympic Park and the surrounding infrastructure.

It also provided the drainage and cable protection for Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 5 and the drainage system for recent refurbishment of the suites at the prestigious Jumeirah Beach Hotel, in Dubai.

Balby Carr Bank-based MS International has three operating divisions – defence, forgings and a division that makes petrol station forecourt superstructures.

Norwich-based MSI-Defence Systems has been designing and making defence equipment for more than 100 years.

Products include the SEAHAWK gun system, fire control systems, surface and submarine navigation systems, compression chambers for divers and shelters, specialist vehicle bodies and containers for land forces.

Doncaster-based MSI-Quality Forgings makes steel forging for many applications, including safety critical applications and fork arms for a range of applications, including giant forks, weighing up to 150 tonnes, which stand as high as a man.
