MOTORISTS are warned of disruption as a £50,000 project gets under way to replace 500 metres of old gas main.
Work begins tomorrow on the A629 Wortley Road, Rotherham.
Old iron mains will be replaced with new long-lasting plastic pipes that have a lifespan of 80 years if left in the ground undisturbed.
A spokesman for National Grid said: “This essential work will keep the gas flowing safely and reliably.”
The work, involving temporary traffic lights on the A629, will start at the junction of Fellowfields Way, which is to be closed for one week with no access from Wortley Road.
