A PLEA has gone out to pick-you-own fans.
There’s a raspberry glut at Whirlow Hall Farm.
Because of the weather they’re a bit late, but berry good - and there are stacks of them.
“They need picking now or they will go to waste. We have an acres of them; the raspberry canes as so laden down they are in danger of snapping,” says Rob Waitt, head of retail and catering at the charity-run farm.
“The rain hasn’t been good for lots of things in the garden, but it’s been great for raspberries. It’s made them really plump and juicy and the recent bout of sunshine has ripened them beautifully.”
Pickers can turn up between 10am and 5pm seven days a week. Raspberries are £5.80 a kilo.
