A new office and commercial development that completes the £15 million regeneration of Penistone’s town centre officially opens its doors this week.

Local developer Dransfield Properties’ Penistone 1 project comprises retail units ranging from 820 sq ft to 2,560 sq ft, with high specification office suites above, ranging in size from 435 sq ft.

Dransfield’s managing director, Mark Dransfield, said: “This has been a complex development which we started work on more than five years ago with the relocation of the Fire and Ambulance Stations in Penistone.

“It’s great that we are now at the stage of completing this final phase of the regeneration scheme.

“In Penistone 1 we’ve sought to deliver a really well designed and impressive building which complements the rest of the town.”

Barnsley Council leader Sir Stephen Houghton said: “This is a huge boost to the Penistone and Barnsley economies, both economically and architecturally, which helps cement Penistone’s role as one of the key market towns in the region.”
