An apology has been issued to Sheffield Steelers ice hockey fans after a fence was put up during last week’s game blocking access to iceSheffield where many supporters had paid to park their cars.
The barriers were put up during the match with Braehead, in advance of the After Dark Bonfire Night party at Don Valley Bowl.
One of those affected, Sue Raistrick, of Beighton, said: “On Sunday evening we paid our Sheffield Steelers’ match day parking fee at iceSheffield and walked to the arena via Don Valley Bowl.
“After the game many of us tried to go back that same route only to find access had been blocked and a large fence had been erected around Ice Sheffield - put up during the game.
“Young and old alike had to walk back via the main road.
Mandy Parker, general manager of iceSheffield, said: “Unfortunately, we weren’t notified by Sheffield Council that the fencing was being installed around Don Valley Bowl on Sunday evening for After Dark.
“Consequently, our steward was unable to advise Steelers fans affected by the change of access. We are sorry for any inconvenience.”
