Christmas shoppers visiting Doncaster’s Frenchgate Centre are to be hit with a car parking price increase.
Prices at the shopping centre’s multi-storey increased on Monday November 26.
Parking for an hour has increased from £1.20 to £1.40, parking for two hours has increased from £2.40 to £2.80 and parking for three hours has risen from £3.60 to £3.90.
Parking for three hours or more will remain at £5.
The price hike comes ahead of the busy Christmas shopping season.
A shopper, who did not want to be named, said: “It’s yet another expense that we could well do without at this time of year.”
A Frenchgate Centre spokesman was unavailable for comment.
The news comes as Doncaster Council announced it is set to offer free parking across many town centre locations.
Dave Wilkinson, Assistant Director of Trading Services and Assets, said: “We will be offering free parking in many town centre locations over the Christmas and New Year periods, to help encourage more visitors into the town centre to make the most of our excellent shopping and leisure attractions. Full details will be released on the council website soon.”
