Where there’s scrap there’s £50m turnover for Universal Recycling of Mexborough - and that is set to grow after the firm bought 7.25 adjacent acres of land to expand.
Established in 1992, the firm buys, sells and processes scrap, sourcing material from dealers, local authorities and from overseas.
John Hughes, managing director, said: “Our site is literally bursting at the seams so we’ve been delighted to secure the funding. We also hope to create new jobs.”
The firm employs 52 plus 52 agency staff.
