Marc Wildes was the leading force behind the establishment of W Academy & Education, one of the UK’s leading providers of apprenticeships.

It offers school leavers apprenticeships in everything from hairdressing to hospitality.

“It has probably never been more difficult than at present for school leavers to decide what their next step is,” says Marc.

“University tuition fees have trebled in the past couple of years and the employment landscape for young people has been a difficult and incredibly saturated marketplace.

“I set out to develop a business that offered young people across South Yorkshire and Derbyshire another option for progressing their careers.”

The Scotland Street-based company was founded in 2012.

It has since grown ten times, from four to 44 employees.

As part of its culture, W Academy & Education provides continual personal development opportunities to enable its own staff to grow both their own expertise and the business.
