How the NHS makes decisions about spending money was at the top of the agenda when the public put questions to health professionals at a public meeting.
Around 60 people were at the NHS Sheffield Clinical Commissioning Group event, which also discussed how to involve more patients in decision making, and the consistency of services across GP practices.
The group received feedback from different perspectives including those of patients, carers and volunteers from other health organisations.
Pitsmoor GP Dr Ted Turner said it was vital for more patients, both individuals and groups, to have their say.
Ted said: “I used to worry about seeing patients, but now I get worried about the patients that I am not seeing. There are around 560,000 people living in Sheffield and I would like to hear from everyone.”
The CCG meets twice each year.
