More development could be on the cards for Derbyshire County Council’s flagship regeneration site after a planning application was submitted for a 100,000 sqft warehouse and office building.
Developer Henry Boot - the council’s private sector partner - is seeking permission for the appearance of the building on the site next to the roundabout on Markham Lane.
If approved, work could start in the autumn, bringing more construction jobs to the area.
Outline planning permission has already been granted for the development which would be funded as part of a £14.2m Government grant awarded to Markham Vale through the Sheffield City Region’s Enterprise Zone.
Coun Joan Dixon, Derbyshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Jobs, Economy and Transport, said: “This is a really exciting time for Markham Vale with development really starting to gain pace. We’ve already started laying the foundations to expand onto the former Seymour Colliery site and turn a dormant site into prime economic land for business and industry.”
