REGENERATION plans which could create up to 30 new jobs have been approved for a town on the outskirts of Sheffield.

North East Derbyshire Council has granted permission for the project, which will see a new Aldi supermarket built on the site of the former Parkside Shopping Centre, Killamarsh.

The town’s old Kwik Save store and public toilets, which had become a problem spot for anti-social behaviour, are to be demolished to make way for the development.

Meanwhile, six other empty retail units are to be revamped as part of the scheme by developers MDWE. As well as the 30 new store jobs, about 200 jobs are to be created during construction and local firms will be given priority when tendering for work.
