A South Yorkshire MP was given a tour of a supermarket giant’s new distribution centre, which is its biggest in the country and is to create 500 jobs.
John Healey, who represents Wentworth and Dearne, toured the Aldi site in Goldthorpe.
The 52,000 square metre site is expected to open next year with a new store also planned nearby.
Mr Healey said: “The scale of the site and the potential operation were extremely impressive, as is Aldi’s commitment to employing local people.
“All jobs are permanent, there are no zero-hour contracts and the lowest paid warehouse operative will receive an hourly rate that is above the living wage.”
