A new supermarket has created almost 30 jobs in a Sheffield community.

Discount store Aldi is opening the doors of its new premises in Ecclesfield to shoppers for the first time next Thursday.

The shop is the third to open in the Sheffield area in recent months, as branches in Dronfield and Killamarsh opened earlier this year.

A team of 27 staff have been recruited to work in the north Sheffield supermarket, bringing the total number of jobs created by Aldi since March to 87 in the three stores.

Aldi area manager Matthew Lipscombe said: “We are excited to welcome the community of Ecclesfield to our new store and can’t wait to meet the residents at our launch.

“We have some excellent local products available and we hope our new customers are pleased with the great value we offer.”

The store opens from 8am until 9pm from Monday to Friday.
