Fulcrum, the Sheffield-based, nationwide independent utilities contractor, has unveiled a new service aimed at curing an epidemic of poorly maintained and damaged outlet gas pipes.
The pipes carry gas from the meter to the appliance and are often neglected once they have been installed.
Many company owners and managers do not realise they are legally responsible and have a duty of care to ensure that over the long term such supply lines are maintained for health and safety purposes.
John Spellman, chief executive of Europa View-based Fulcrum, said: “It has come to the attention of our expert engineers that more and more businesses are operating with substandard outlet pipework, which poses significant implications to the successful running of the business and what’s more, is putting lives at risk.
“Our inspection and maintenance service is set to become a significant part of our business; with many customers already recognising the need to provide a well maintained and safe environment for their business practices and staff.”
Fulcrum designs and carries out domestic, industrial and commercial gas connections and disconnections, installs meters and outlet pipework and carries out multi-utility works nationwide.
Projects include the multi-million pound technical development at Heathrow Terminal 5.
