Barber Harrison & Platt, the Sheffield-based firm that lays claim to being Yorkshire’s largest independent firm of chartered accountants, has appointed partner Mike Jackson to lead its office in Leeds.
Prior to joining BHP, Mr Jackson headed the accounting and business advisory group of a national firm’s Yorkshire practice, having previously grown a practice from £3 million turnover to in excess of £7 million.
Mr Jackson was one of the first people to gain a Diploma in Charity Accounting and has acted as audit partner to a large number of charity and education clients and has helped a number of schools to gain Academy status.

n Andrew Smith has joined Dinnington-based lone worker security specialist Connexion2 as a configuration and test operator. Mr Smith has a degree in information management from Sheffield Hallam University and worked in customer services and then IT, before joining Connexion2.
