A run-down cafe has been perked up thanks to keen new proprietors and a £10,000 loan from Sheffield City Council.
Andrew and Jaqui Saint were already fans of Courtyard Coffee House in Heeley. But their catering experience told them it had real potential.
So they bought the business – and doubled takings in the first week following a thorough clean.
But to make a real difference the couple needed cash. And their bank recommended they speak to the council about the SME loan fund.
They received £10,000 and have spent it on a new kitchen and decor.
Andrew said: “We were also able to access additional funding from Donbac to help us develop the business. It enabled us to purchase the business and complete our plans in repositioning it as a quality food and drink venue in the area.”
The coffee house is part of Langton’s Antiques Centre within the city’s antiques quarter.
