A Sheffield taxi firm is looking to the future with a new headquarters and a brand new smartphone app.

City Taxis has swapped its former Manor Top home for a high-tech HQ in the heart of the Lower Don Valley.

The change has coincided with the introduction of a new website and smartphone integration which the firm claims will allow passengers to book a taxi in five seconds.

Managing director Arnie Singh said: “This is one of the biggest and most important investments made by a taxi organisation in the UK in recent times.

“We have become a major employer in the region handling nearly 100,000 calls a week. In a sector as competitive as ours it is vitally important we can draw upon high-tech facilities to continue to offer the very best.

“The new technology means our customers can download the app and not have to go through to a call centre. Customers can see nearby vehicles on their mobile platforms and can book with the knowledge that they will know how long it will take for the taxi to arrive.”
