Traffic passing through Armthorpe, Doncaster, will face disruption from Monday due to gas mains replacement.

National Grid is upgrading more than 350 metres of gas pipes in Nutwell Lane and Cowhouse Lane, up to the junction with Ruskin Drive. The work is expected to take up to four weeks.

One section of Nutwell Lane will be made one-way, from the Church Street/Mill Street roundabout to Cowhouse Lane.

Motorists entering Armthorpe from Doncaster will be able to use Nutwell Lane as usual but traffic coming into Armthorpe from Old Cantley will be diverted via Cowhouse Lane, Gunhills Lane, Rands Lane and Mill Street.

Access to Kingsley Crescent will be via Cowhouse Lane and Ruskin Drive.

National Grid engineering manager Kevin Blundell said: “This project will keep the gas flowing safely to local homes and businesses for decades to come. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused. To help reduce disruption to motorists and residents the work has been planned to start in the school summer holidays.”
