The Sheffield University spin-out behind a pioneering hand-held device that instantly, painlessly and accurately detects cervical cancer has secured a further £750,000 boost from the The North West Fund for Biomedical.

Earlier this year, Sheffield Bioincubator-based Zilico secured £750,000 from the same fund and a further £235,000 from new and existing investors, including Fusion IP, which commercialises research carried out at Sheffield and Cardiff Universities.

It is using the funding to complete the manufacture of commercial devices and establish a route to market in the EU and other territories.
