NEW escalators in a Sheffield shopping centre will be officially launched on Friday.

The £170,000 replacement project at Crystal Peaks, which began on Friday, September 7, has seen the 25-year-old escalators linking the main shopping mall with the centre’s Food Hub and Sainsbury’s supermarket replaced by energy-efficient models.

Lee Greenwood, centre manager, said: “The work has been completed on schedule and with minimum inconvenience to all our customers.”

“The replacements feature the latest energy-saving technology.”
