BDB Design Build (originally trading under the name of Bramall Design Build when it was part of the Keepmoat group) was formed in 1988.
Its first office was one room in a Victorian terrace on South Parade in Doncaster occupied by a secretary, Alan Goodson and Bob Hartley, another member of the original buyout team.
After the management buyout in 1994, BDB moved into a larger, albeit still a small office, this time in Sheffield in Omega Court on Cemetery Road, their base for the next 10 years.
The gradual increase in turnover and staffing eventually put pressure on the business to find more suitable accommodation and when an opportunity arose to buy an office they themselves had built on 35A Business Park in Chapeltown, for St Paul’s Developments, they jumped at the chance.
The move took place in 2006.
The location is ideal for motorway access, a particularly important factor for BDB given its varied areas of operation and for a number of its staff who commute daily from outside the Sheffield area.
