It was a South Yorkshire affair when Blundells sought advisers to help in talks leading to the Campo Lane-based firm’s acquisition by leading UK estate agency group Countrywide
A team led by John Warner and David Forrest from multi-award winning firm BHP Corporate Finance acted as lead advisers to Blundells, while legal advice came from a team led by Paul Trudgill and Paul Goel from Keeble Hawson.
John Warner has been a long standing adviser to Blundells and four years ago advised the company on its move from a partnership to an incorporated business after its turnover had grown to a point where the switch made sense.
BHP Corporate Finance also acted for family run Sheffield estate agency, Spencers, when it sold its property management arm to Countrywide in May.
John Warner said: “We have been advising Blundells for around 20 years and have developed a strong understanding of the key drivers of the business and the aspirations of the shareholders.
“We were instrumental in planning the incorporation of the previous partnership in 2007, forming Blundells Property Services, as part of a succession plan for the business and its owners.
“The sale to Countrywide sees the culmination of this plan and, whilst disappointed to be losing a valued client, all at BHP are delighted to have helped structure this deal for the shareholders and are excited at the expansion opportunities that will flow from the resources available through Countrywide.”
