An extra 27,000 bus journeys have been made since the Rotherham Bus Partnership came into force, according to figures.
The partnership, which launched in July, said overall journey numbers had risen by 1.1 per cent.
And it said the number of fare-paying passengers rose by nearly 6 per cent.
The partnership aims to improve bus services and increase passenger numbers by making the network easier to use, reliable and more convenient.
It says bus punctuality has improved, from 95.3 per cent of buses running on time to 97.9 per cent.
It also says that customer complaints have fallen by 19 per cent when compared to the same period in previous years.
Bus operators welcomed the figures.
