DEVELOPERS of the Holiday Inn Express Hotel in Sheffield have celebrated the topping out of the seven storey, 161 bed hotel on Blonk Street.

Hermann Beck, director of Amber Hotels, which will run the business, billed as the first of a new generation of Holiday Inn Express Hotels, said: “To see the completed building framework is an exciting step in the delivery of this flagship hotel.”

Tom Charles, construction manager for JF Finnegan, added: “Despite the heavy snow falls in December, the hotel remains on programme for completion this Summer and is already taking bookings.”

Finnegan’s has completed work on a show room within the hotel and will now install a natural stone facade, designed to ensure the building is in keeping with the local environment.

The next step will be to create a pedestrian walkway linking the Wicker and Five Weirs Walk, adjacent to the hotel, to Victoria Quays, through the Holiday Inn Royal Victoria Hotel’s listed archways.
