A MEDICAL equipment firm has announced 45 jobs are to go at its Sheffield factory.
Staff at Owlerton-based Symmetry Medical were informed of the redundancies only weeks after bosses at the US-owned plant said a shake-up of its European operations would not have a ‘significant impact’ on its workforce.
At the end of March, the company said a ‘small number’ of administrative jobs, including that of European chief John Hynes, could be hit.
Concern over jobs was voiced after Symmetry revealed the Owlerton plant would no longer be its European HQ.
Symmetry president Brian Moore said: “We’ve no plans for major redundancies or to close or dramatically reduce operations at the site.”
