A brewery where the military cleaning product Blanco is reputed to have first been made is the unlikely venue for a forum that aims to help manufacturers share best practice and boost their businesses.

The Makers Bar at the Sheffield Brewery Company’s Neepsend site will host Making It? launched by the Sheffield City Region Small Business Forum, in association with Sheffield Chamber of Commerce.

The forum will include a series of brewery tours, each with an expert on hand to discuss aspects of business, including exporting, protecting and exploiting Intellectual Property, production management or raising finance.

Small Business Forum chairman Peter Rawlinson, an IT and Intellectual Property lawyer at Wake Smith, said: “This event will be an opportunity for businesses large and small to come along and engage with other manufacturer’s and learn from experts or offer tips on how to survive and develop their businesses in the current climate.

“Making It? will also follow the MADE Festival, which is set to provide the region with an opportunity to promote its credentials as a place for manufacturers to thrive. We’d like to hear your feedback on MADE and will be using this event to collate views to help make it different from other activity in the city.”

Making It? is on Wednesday,October 24. For more information contact Sheffield Chamber, tel: 0114 201 8930.
