London & Scandinavian Metallurgical Company has been named Business of the Year at the Barnsley and Rotherham Business Awards.
The Rotherham firm, which produces a wide range of metals, alloys, powders and additive, is one of the region’s largest private sector employers.
During the last four years, LSM has doubled its turnover and exports now account for 87 percent of its sales – an achievement that earned it success in the export category of the awards.
LSM also received a Salute to Business accolade, marking its 75th anniversary in business.
Managing director Itamar Resende said: “Our achievements, our growth and continued investment are a true reflection of the commitment and dedication of our employees, the people who will help us drive towards a successful future.”
Barnsley based Cutting Technologies achieved a double success, winning the Business Growth and Excellence in Manufacturing Awards.
Other winners were: The CCTV Factory, Morthyng Group, Willmott Dixon Partnerships, Iceotope and Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust.
Individual awards went to Jason Mace, managing director of Gala Tent, who was named Business Person of the Year, and Theo Smith from Newburgh Engineering, who won Apprentice of the Year.
