Lighting factory workers prove they are switched on

Doncaster firm Cooper Lighting and Safety has given most of the workforce at its Wheatley Hall Road factory the opportunity to gain Level 2 National Vocational Qualifications.

The first group of 60 successful candidates have been presented with their certificates, and the remaining 290 are expected to complete their qualifications by September.

To accomplish such an extensive learning programme, Cooper Lighting and Safety worked closely with local training provider Kingsway Consulting Ltd.

A dozen Kingsway assessors have been frequent visitors to the Wheatley facility to observe candidates performing their duties and to provide any necessary guidance.

Managing director Martin Mullin said: “We have an excellent workforce, and their success in the NVQ programme demonstrates their desire to achieve the highest possible standards. This will allow our employees to improve their skills base.”
