ROTHERHAM United’s new 12,000-seater stadium will be busy seven days a week – not just Saturday afternoons, club chairman Tony Stewart has pledged.
The £17 million New York Stadium in Rotherham town centre is due to be formally opened in July, ready for the Millers to move in for the 2012-13 season.
Mr Stewart said: “It will help the town tremendously regarding visitors. Everything’s coming together for Rotherham as a town and football club.
“Most clubs struggle to afford their own existence, so we thought we would put effort into a seven-day-a-week functionality.
“We’re planning banqueting, weddings, conferences, a gym, hotel and pub.”
Steelwork for the 12,000-seater stadium has been erected and the roof is almost on now.
