Business leaders are being invited to have their say on economic development plans being developed by the Local Enterprise Partnership for the Sheffield City Region.
The LEP already has seven ‘Sector Groups,’ representing the views of businesses on its economic development plans for Advanced Manufacturing, Creative and Digital Industries, Health Care Technologies, Low Carbon Technologies, Property and Construction, Retail, and Sports, Leisure and Tourism.
Now it is planning to establish two more groups, covering Logistics and Business and Financial Services and is looking for experts and business leaders working in those fields.
LEP chairman James Newman said: “This year, the potential impact of the LEP’s Sector Groups has been elevated to another level, as the LEP Board starts work on the Sheffield City Region’s Economic Growth Strategy.
“Sector Group members have real influence over decisions which will drive economic growth in the Sheffield City Region.
“The LEP is looking for its two new Sector Groups to have a good mix of business people – to provide skills, experiences and insight from businesses which span the whole City Region.”
The LEP is inviting business leaders interested in joining the new groups to official launch events in June.
The first, for the new Logistics Sector Group, takes place from 7.30am to 9.30am on Tuesday, June 18, at Doncaster Sheffield Airport and the second, for the Business and Professional Services Group, will be held at the AMP Technology Centre, from 7.30am to 9.30am on Tuesday, June 25.
