Sheffield law firm Wake Smith is celebrating completing corporate transactions worth more than £50 million in the last 12 months.

The company’s commercial team, headed by partner Duncan Shepherd, has advised on 38 deals, including Chesterfield-based IT group B2NET’s acquisition of online data protection specialist, the Essant group of companies and HSBC Bank’s provision of loan facilities for Barnsley-based MAM Software.

Mr Shepherd said: “Despite reports of a struggling market and with the current economic climate working against large corporate deals, the team at Wake Smith has been inundated; over-seeing deals of differing size across various sectors.

“That we have overseen such a range of work, of such complexity in the last year, is testament to the team’s strength and their ability to handle transactions with expertise.”
