Jane Fardon, 48, took last week’s Ready, Steady... Cook challenge and made Jane and Miriam Chapman’s Easy chicken and pea risotto with daughter Anna (13) and their German exchange student Jenny Bragiel, 13.

Cooking is a fun way to help Jenny learn English and a great way for the girls to get to know each other,” says Jane, who runs Jane Fardon Cosmetics.

“The good thing about this recipe is that it really is easy-peasy! We normally do risotto the ‘bit of liquid at a time’ method, but I love the ease of the all-in-one way of doing it.

“We didn’t have any peas, so we added mushrooms instead. It was delicious and although risotto is not an English dish, lots of English was spoken whilst we cooked.

“In fact the girls found cooking such a good way to have fun and learn each other’s language they have been baking cakes and cookies in abundance ever since.”
