Free sweet treats were the icing on the cake for youngsters at Sheffield’s Moor Market as they turned their hand to a range of fun activities.
Stallholders from Craft Evolution organised a Kids Craft Club, arranged by the business’s work trial teenager Beth White.
Children enjoyed card making before a cupcake event allowed them to bake, ice and eat cupcakes.
The event was such a success the business is going to run a craft club every day throughout the school holidays.
Business owner Donna Tuxford, aged 44, said the youngsters enjoyed the event – and she praised the Department of Work and Pensions’ trial scheme that set her up with 18-year-old Beth.
She said: “It was absolutely fantastic. The children really enjoyed it.
“Beth is an absolute star. I was a bit sceptical about the work trial scheme at first but Beth has been so brilliant I can’t not have her.
“Although she is on a work trial as a volunteer, she is full of ideas and suggestions, she is pro-active and willing to turn her hand to all aspects of the business. Now I have worked with Beth I don’t think I can afford to be without her.”
Beth, of Parson Cross, said: “A lot of people don’t do it because they don’t get paid but I think it’s a good experience and a good way of getting started.”
