It’s a trip to the supermarket Julia Cryan will never forget - for it’s already earned her £4,000 with the St Luke’s Hospice Lottery.
Julia, who lives in Handsworth, signed up after being approached by Play Local canvassers at the Catcliffe branch of Morrisons.
“My father suffered chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and emphysema and we had the support of the St Luke’s community nurses,” said Julia. “It’s such a good cause and the nursing team were wonderful.”
What Julia didn’t expect was that she would win the lottery’s £2,000 jackpot - and she was stunned when two months later her number came up again, taking her grand total to a tax free £4,000.
“I’m a bit speechless,” she said. “I couldn’t believe it when the hospice told me I’d won the first time, but now I just don’t know what to say except thank you!”
Part of the cash went to a special 60th birthday holiday celebration for Julia, who also plans to share some of the cash with her family.
Play Local has a guaranteed weekly first prize of £2,000, a second prize of £150, 100 £5 prizes and a rollover that can reach £10,000. Visit www.playlocalsheffield.org.uk/ to sign up.
