UNEMPLOYMENT has fallen slightly in South Yorkshire constituencies after a large increase during the last year.
Concern remains particularly about the number of young people out of work, which fell only 9,000 across the country and remains above one million nationwide.
Nationally, unemployment fell 9,000 in the three months to February and dropped again during March.
In Clive Betts’ Sheffield South East constituency, unemployment fell by 76 to 3,010 last month. But Mr Betts said: “Unemployment has still gone up 10 per cent overall during the last year.”
Barnsley Central Labour MP Dan Jarvis added: “Youth unemployment is 200 per cent higher than last year.”
