Popular Cannon Hall Farm near Barnsley is expanding and creating 35 new jobs thanks to £1 million in finance from HSBC. A £1.4 million farm-themed indoor play area, 300-seater restaurant and classroom for lesson on how food gets from field to fork, opens in October.

Bigger indoor facilities at the working farm run by Roger Nicholson and his sons Richard, Robert and David (pictured), means families can attend all year-round.

The company, which attracts 290,000 visitors a year, switched its business to HSBC’s South Yorkshire commercial team in a deal led by Senior Commercial Manager Chris Alsop. A £280,000 grant from Leeds City Region Local Enterprise Partnership’s Business Growth Programme takes the farm’s total investment to over £3 million in the last two years.
