A BUS company which has closed its depot and transferred it services and staff to a rival company has assured its old workers their rights will be protected.
Veolia, which used to operate services in Sheffield and Rotherham, issued a statement after concerns were raised about changes to hours and rotas by a relative of one of the 42 drivers who are now working for Halfway-based TM Travel.
A spokeswoman said: “Further to a recent depot by depot review of the Veolia Transport business, our routes operated on behalf of the South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive ceased to operate from the Rotherham Depot.
“Employees assigned to these routes transferred to TM Travel under the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 2006 securing continuity of employment for our employees and avoiding redundancies. All employees affected have been fully consulted.”
