Many local businesses are losing customers and failing to run at peak efficiency because of technological shortcomings, according to a Sheffield IT specialist.
Charles Kavazy, director of IT services for Sheffield-based independent chartered accountants and business advisers Hawsons, says businesses run much more efficiently when they use integrated systems where the sales, marketing, purchasing, stock management, web shop and accounting are all linked together.
“A significant area of weakness is where companies are running two separate software systems, for example one where they do their prospecting and selling and another for accounting. An integrated system could be freeing up valuable time for selling.
“An example we come across regularly is where time is spent each day re-keying internet orders into another system. It’s such a waste of valuable time,” adds Mr Kavazy.
In a bid to help companies get around the problem, Hawsons operates an installation and training service for a number of leading software packages.
