A Sheffield IT company has launched a sales academy after receiving more than 80 applications for nine places.
Millgate Computer Systems will train recruits for six months on account management skills and the firm’s product range, with the aim of creating IT sales professionals.
Sales director Chris Headon, said: “From my experience, the sales people from different industries we have recruited have been more successful than the ones recruited from other IT companies.
“It’s this experience and knowledge that gave me the inspiration and vision to create our very own academy.”
It officially opens on Wednesday.
Millgate, of Vantage Drive, Tinsley, opened its first office in Rotherham in July 1996, providing IT and communication services to businesses.
It achieved £1m turnover in its first year. Sales and profits doubled in the year to April 2006 and the firm relocated to a new office at Vantage Park in 2009.
In July last year the firm purchased a new office. Today, it has more than 6,000 customers with a turnover of more than £30m.
