UK Steel Enterprise is searching for Rotherham’s next generation of entrepreneurs and has cash ready to help them launch their new businesses.
The Tata Steel subsidiary, which backs job creation in areas hit by steel industry cutbacks, is offering to provide grants of up to £500 for 30 young people from the town, through its Kickstart Fund.
Regional manager Keith Williams says the organisation has taken a conscious decision to support young people after seeing some great examples of enterprise from previous investments.
Kickstart Fund success stories include Jenny Mortimer, who set up children’s luxury organic clothing retailer Kyna Boutique, in Aston with her partner Jamie.
She says the cash played an essential part in getting her business off the ground, helping the company to stock a particular brand which has since gone on to be one of its best sellers.
