Public transport passengers are to travel in style following the introduction of a fleet of gold buses.

The six premium double decker Alexander Dennis Enviro 400 vehicles, which will operate between Sheffield, Chesterfield and Matlock, are part of a £1.2 million investment by operator Stagecoach.

Each luxury bus has high-backed Italian hand-stitched leather seats, ambient lighting and free wifi. They also boast specially-trained uniformed drivers and environmentally friendly Euro Five engines.

Operating on Stagecoach route X17 in South Yorkshire and Derbyshire, the fleet is the first Stagecoach Gold to be introduced in the region by the coach company.

The regal fleet of vehicles was launched at Chesterfield’s Proact Stadium during a special event attended by VIPs from Sheffield, Chesterfield and Matlock.
