Staff from the Sheffield office of Investec Wealth & Investment have succeeded in raising more than double their target after organising a cycle challenge covering 340 miles.

When senior investment director James Bedingfield came up with the idea for the Investec Ashes Cycle Challenge, he hoped it would raise around £100,000 for good causes including the Sheffield Children’s Hospital and Lord’s Taverners Charities.

In the end, the event, which attracted cricket legend Mike Gatting, netted £250,000.

James Bedingfield said: “We’re now looking forward to seeing the money raised go to some great causes.”
