Leading insolvency and debt recovery specialist P&A Group is expanding to Ireland.
The Sheffield-based group, which is one of the largest independent advisory, insolvency and debt collection firms in the UK, has been working in Ireland for more than 10 years and is opening an office in Dublin to strengthen its position in the region.
A lot of its work in Ireland has involved helping small and medium- sized enterprises to find alternative finance for business restructuring and growth.
Jason Sheehy, who will head the new office as managing partner there, said: “Family-owned and mid-tier businesses have been decimated because of the Irish economy, the collapse in the property market and banking crisis.
“Many are struggling to recover because they can’t get access to finance – the situation is worse here than in the UK. P&A has particular strengths in finding alternative funding, including invoice discounting – a refinancing option that traditionally hasn’t been considered in Ireland.”
P&A’s Sheffield-based managing director, Jeremy Priestley, said: “It makes sense for us to have a strong presence in Ireland where we think the breadth of our work can help businesses.”
