Four South Yorkshire firms have reached the finals of a competition to help Yorkshire’s small and medium sized enterprises to turn their innovative export ideas into reality.
Innovative Support Systems, Waterguard Services, Galglass and Tomorrow Options Microelectronics are among 14 companies vying to reach the finals of the Exporting For Growth competition run by UK Trade & Investment, bankers HSBC and accountants PwC.
The winner will receive advice and grants enabling them to travel to global destinations where there is a demand for their skills, products or services.
Mapplewell-based Innovative Support Systems makes constructional supports from recycled material for applications ranging from building embankments to sea defences and tunnels.
Waterguard Services, based at the Oaks Business Park in Barnsley, develops leak detection, prevention and water conservation products for residential, commercial and public buildings.
Galglass, from Wombwell, makes steel and concrete storage tanks and tanks used for producing biogas fuels and fertiliser from organic materials.
Tomorrow Options Microelectronics, based in Sheffield, develops electronic devices for the health, sports and industrial markets, including monitoring equipment designed to help people who have difficulty walking and sensors that help to reduce the incidence of pressure ulcers for patients confined to bed .
