EVOLUTION Power Tools is planning further expansion on the back of research and innovation at its Holbrook headquarters in Sheffield.

The firm, launched by managing director Matthew Gavins more than 20 years ago as a power tool repair business, operating from his father’s garage, now numbers US department store giant Sears and the world’s second largest home improvement retailer, Lowe’s, as customers.

Evolution lays claim to being one of the fastest growing power tool brands in the world, thanks to technical development pioneered by its 50-strong Sheffield team, including its range of patented circular saws, sold under the Rage brand name.

Thanks to Evolution’s technical developments, the Rage range, which includes mitre saws, can cut a range and combination of materials, including wood, metal, plastics and laminates.

Evolution’s Rage combines innovations in power tool and blade design that enable the tools to run at the slower speeds required when cutting steel, while still being able to cut materials like wood, which are normally cut at higher speeds.
